PARTICIPATE IN THE CREATION OF A STORY

There was a time when novels cost between 10 and 15 cents. These “dime” novels tended to be stories of romance, westerns and detective stories. Pulp fiction and many of today’s paperbacks seem to be descended from the idea of producing stories quickly and selling them relatively cheaply. However, inflation has taken its toll.

If you have ever wanted to participate in the writing of one of these novels, now is your chance. For 10 cents a word, penguinate.com will have one of its authors write a story. That story can be:

  • Adventure: The Search for the Sword of Damocles
  • Detective: Dead Men Don't Phone Home
  • Action
  • Western: High Noon for the Solitary Man
  • Science fiction
  • The Legend of Bagelcles: How the bagel became sandwich material
  • All aTwitter: The Search for the Genie Army - this special story is based on one trending hashtag at the time that each new section is written.

The first person to send in a payment can choose the story style, and the links will be added here when the stories have been started. (In the interest of writing what you know, romance is off the table.)

Aspiring writers who would like to participate can send their words via the contact form. If accepted, those words will be added to the story with no payment necessary, and the author will be given credit at the top of the page. Writers should share the link to the story.

In the case of multiple entries that take off from the same point, readers will be given a choice as to which path to take. The idea for everyone involved is to have fun. All additions are at the discretion of the editor.

Those who just want to see how the story progresses should bookmark the page or send a message with email to get notifications. The minimum number of words to order is 10 or at least $1.
